Gutierrez Outlines Need to Expand Trade While Increasing Security

Washington (Nov. 1)—Secretary of Commerce Carlos M. Gutierrez kicked off the two-day Update 2007 Conference on Export Controls and Policy hosted by the Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security. At the 20th anniversary conference, the Secretary outlined the Bush administration’s focus of increasing global markets and expanding trade, while ensuring that the export of sensitive materials is done in a responsible, secure manner.
